Apoligies

Posted by Iosun - June 28th, 2017

Okay, I know probably no one is going to read this. But I need to get some things off my chest, so bear with me.

Geometry Dash

Okay, Geometry Dash. I need to say something about GD. I DO NOT hate Geometry Dash. In fact, I play it all the time. I won't disrespect or talk down upon its fans, although I do think the fanbase is pretty terrible. All I hate is the reuploading of stolen songs for the purpose of GD. It's pointless, stupid, and it's just tiring. So, if you like GD, I'm right there with you. I feel like I've come across as a GD hater, and I'm not.

Where have I been?

Very busy. Stained Glass has been a really difficult song to complete. I can't think of new ideas, I have to fix a tough transition, I can't decide what to do with it, and I'm losing motivation to complete it. Also, I'm just not spending as much time making songs as usual. This is mainly because I'm losing interest- but I WANT to do it. I WANT to build up an audience with my songs, but I've failed because I'm still inexperienced and learning. There is nothing more important to me than feedback- so PLEASE, if you listen to my stuff, leave a review. I don't even care if it's positive or negative, as long as it's helpful. But yeah, I'm losing my motivation to do this stuff.

My negative reviews

I need to apologise for my negative reviews on others' songs. I'm somewhat of a stoic and also a pretty negative person, and I let that carry over. I make a lot of pointless reviews and drop stars for petty things, and I'm sorry for anyone I did that to. Often, when I'm writing reviews, I forget how much blood, sweat, and tears goes into every song uploaded (well, not EVERY song, but you know what I mean.) To take an example, my song Occulus has a single review, written by @MrJenius, which gave me some helpful advice. But I remember thinking about how much work I put into that and how it just got shut down the whole day. (NOTE: MrJenius, if you're reading this, I'm not trying to make you feel bad.  Thank you for your feedback). I think I forgot about that experience and let the anonymity of the internet take over, and I'm sorry. If I wrote an unjustified bad review of your song, I'm sorry.

Apoligies to people

There are 3 specific users I want to apoligise to, because I realise I've done wrong to them.

  • @Darkburst, I'm sorry for bashing your song and then being defensive against your bad review on Bomber. While I don't think the 1/2 star is justified for your reasons, I shouldn't have retaliated and acted like a jerk.
  • @SnowTeddy, I'm sorry for misinterpreting your advice as an insult. I was pretty desperate for help with how to use my software, and I guess anything as simple as that would have set me off.
  • @canonblade, I'm sorry about the incorrect review I made. I clicked the link to your song without realizing it.

And above all, I'm sorry about anyone I hurt with my bad reviews.

Apoligies for being arrogant

In recent months, I've acted like an arrogant asshole far too often. I remember acting like I was an authority on the GD copyright problem, when in reality I'm just another guy who clicks 'flag'. I remember being defensive toward justified negative reviews toward my songs. I remember writing pointless reviews on stolen song and acting way too serious, posting about new ways to detect copyright and doing other arrogant things. I'm very sorry about that.

Thanks to people

So I don't end this in such a downer mood, here are my thanks to anyone who's helped me on this site.

  • Anyone who's reviewed my songs. I really do take in your feedback and try to improve, so thank you.
  • Anyone who's followed me despite the fact that I'm not very good. Thank you SO much for doing so.
  • Anyone who I reached out to to find help with my software.
  • Anyone who I've messaged with positively.

And for personal thanks,

  • @Dubsyn, for all your helpful feedback on my songs.
  • @TimbitTheBoss, for scouting me.
  • @Waterflame, for getting me into music in the first place.
  • @Mich, @Troisynx, @EDM364, and @NekoMika for helping me with questions I had in forums. Especially @Mich, thanks for the video links you sent me. They helped a lot.
  • Any other audio moderator out there. You guys are amazing.

Thanks so much for reading this far, because I know it was mostly stuff people wouldn't care about.

See you guys again when I finish Stained Glass.

Comments

Thank you, for being very diligent. And as for the music, don't sweat it. See how you do after you release that piece.

Yeah, I've just been really bad at time management as of late... but thanks.

nothing to worry about :)

i was tired from work that day so i was kinda pissy. felt bad about it too.

we all have our strange moments in life and you should not worry about it.

enjoy your weekend, and happy upcoming 4th of July. (or the 1st if you are in Canada)

Yeah, I'm American.
Sorry about that, I was pretty desperate for help when I wrote that.

hey cheer up :)

to compensate for my rudeness, if you need any help at all. PM me or anybody on the forum. people are actually quite helpful when come to this.

Nah, man it's fine.
I've started back up on the song, and I've generally improved, with my best song being off-site because of potential copyright.
But thanks.
